Sathe is a personal finance tracker that keeps your information on your phone. There is no account, no server and no tracking. We do not collect, receive, sell or share the financial information you enter into the app.
Who we are
Sathe is developed by Yasiru Senarathna, Colombo, Sri Lanka (“we”, “us”, “Sathe”). You can reach us at hello@getmerge.co
What Sathe stores, and where
When you use the app, you can enter things like transactions (amounts, dates, categories and notes), accounts, assets and liabilities, budgets, goals and your settings. All of this is stored only on your device, in an encrypted database. The encryption key is kept in your phone’s secure storage (Android Keystore). We have no server that holds this information, so we cannot see it, read it or recover it.
If you turn on app lock, your PIN and lock settings are also stored on your device only.
What we do not collect
The Sathe app does not collect or transmit:
your name, email address or any account details (there is no account)
your financial entries, balances, notes or settings
bank account details (Sathe never connects to your bank)
your text messages, contacts, photos or location
advertising IDs or device identifiers
analytics or crash reports
Sathe contains no advertising.
Permissions
Sathe does not ask for internet access. It uses your phone’s biometric or screen-lock features only to unlock the app on your device, and the system file picker only when you choose to save or restore a backup file. Sathe does not need storage, contacts, camera, microphone or location permissions.
Backups and exports
Because we do not hold a copy of your data, a backup file is the only way to recover or move it. When you create a backup, the file is protected with a passphrase you choose and is saved where you tell your phone to save it. We never receive it. If you lose the file or forget the passphrase, we cannot help you recover the contents. Android’s automatic cloud backup is turned off for Sathe, so your data is not copied to Google Drive or to a new phone automatically.
Third parties
Google Play. Sathe is distributed through Google Play. Google collects its own information when you download or update the app, under Google’s privacy policy. We see only the aggregate statistics Google Play provides to developers.
The app itself does not send data to any third party.
Our website
Our website sathe.app lets you join a waitlist. If you do, we collect only the email address you enter. We use it to tell you when Sathe is ready and occasionally to share progress updates, and for nothing else. We do not sell or share it. It is processed by [email or form provider], which acts on our behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email, or by writing to support@sathe.app, and we will delete your address. Our hosting provider, [provider], may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and time of visit) for security and operation.
How long we keep information
We do not keep any of the financial information you enter, because it never reaches us. Data in the app stays on your device until you delete it. You can erase everything in the app under Settings, Delete all data, or by uninstalling Sathe. Backup files you created are separate and stay wherever you saved them until you delete them. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or the waitlist ends, and are then deleted.
Security
Your data is encrypted on your device and protected by your phone’s security, and you can add an app lock. No system is perfectly secure. A device that is rooted, infected or unlocked in someone else’s hands may expose your data. Keep your phone’s screen lock turned on, keep your backup somewhere safe, and choose a strong backup passphrase.
Children
Sathe is not directed at children under 13 , and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Because the app collects no personal information, there is nothing to remove, but if you believe a child has joined our waitlist, contact us and we will delete the address.
Your choices and rights
The information in the app is under your control on your device. You can view, change or delete it there at any time. Because we do not hold it, we cannot access, correct, export or delete it for you. For waitlist emails, you can ask us at any time to access or delete your address, and we will do so. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and you can contact us to use them.
International use
The app does not transfer your data anywhere. Our website and email providers may process waitlist addresses in other countries.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when we add features. We will change the date above, and if a change affects how your information is handled, we will say so in the app update notes and on this page.
